Curtistine Walker is the Director of Pittsburgh Schools Food Service. In this role, she is responsible for the overall operation of the Department of Food Service in Pittsburgh Public Schools, which is the largest of 43 school districts in Allegheny County and second largest in Pennsylvania. The district consists of approximately 25,000 students in Kindergarten through Grade 12 in 54 schools in addition to Early Childhood programs that consist of three- and four-year-olds in classrooms across the city.
Curtistine is an advocate for child nutrition and has served as the State President of the School Nutrition Association of Pennsylvania, where her responsibilities included exercising all general powers of supervisory and active management of the state’s Board of Directors in carrying out the national plans of action for school food service operations.
She received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Home Economics Education from The Pennsylvania State University and a Masters Degree in Vocational Education from the University of Pittsburgh. She also has certifications in early Childhood Development and Interior Design.
Curtistine is a member of various community and social organizations where she has held numerous leadership roles. She has served on the Cultural Diversity Task Committee of the Beaver and Lawrence County Girl Scouts and Southwestern PA Food Security Partnership Committee. She is a sustainer member of the Junior League of Pittsburgh, Financial Secretary of the Pittsburgh Chapter of the Negro Business and Professional Women’s Club’s, Inc., Past President of the Women’s Achievement Club of Beaver County, Eastern Area Liaison of the Pittsburgh Chapter of Links, Inc. and Past President of the Pittsburgh Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.
She has been the recipient of the 2000 Community Service Award from the Business and Professional Auxiliary of the Church in the Round in Aliquippa, 2004 and 2012 Thelma Flanagan Award of Excellence from the School Nutrition Association, 2006-2007 Community Service Award from the Pittsburgh Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. and was recognized as Women of Excellence by the New Pittsburgh Courier.
She has been a speaker for various professional, social and community organizations; the topics include “ Leadership”, “Food and Nutrition”, “13 Fatal Errors That Managers Make and How to Avoid Them”, “Social Etiquette for Everyday Living”, Dining Etiquette for Black Tie Events” and ,“Fashion Etiquette for Students and Professionals”.
Her hobbies include event and conference planning, entertaining, baking, interior design, cosmetology, fashion coordinating, singing and vocal music arranging.
